Sociological Symposium NUSS
2001 Conference


  This years conference will take place on November 1 and 2, 2001 at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  The Keynote Speaker for this year's conference will be John Galliher, from the University of Missouri. Dr.Galliher received his Ph.D. from the University of Indiana and has been with the University of Missouri since 1967. His areas of specialty include criminology, law, and professional ethics. Dr. Galliher's research has focused on three main areas: the origins of criminal law and the biography, or intellectual history, or sociology as a discipline and of individual sociologists. He is currently finishing a project on the Death Penalty and will be presenting those findings and reflections in his keynote address.

     Student Involvement in NUSS 2001
 

Students, you may be involved in this conference in a number of ways. To begin, we encourage you to attend the conference and all of the activities that take place. You may present a paper that can be completed or a work in progress. You can organize or participate in a roundtable discussion. This deadline is October 12, 2001. Papers submitted for a panel or roundtable submission should be sent to Dr. Boyd Littrell, Sociology, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Omaha, NE 68482-0291, 1-402-554-3373. You may also submit a paper for competition. The deadline to submit a paper for competition is October 12, 2001 to Dr. Boyd Littrell at the above address or email.

There are two categories for the competition which are Empirical or Literature Review/Theory. There will be cash prizes for winning in both categories, $50 for 1st place and $25 for 2nd place. Click here for more information on the for the paper competition.
