CONSTITUTION

I
- Name
Section
I.
This organization shall hereafter be referred to as the Sports Administration
Club.
Article
II - Statement of Purpose
Section
I.
The Purpose of the Sports Administration Club is to provide its members
opportunities to formulate, organize and participate in professional and
social programs and activities that help to supplement and enhance the
educational experience of its members.
Section
II.
The aims and objectives of the Sports Administration Club shall be as
follows:
A. To unite in one organization all persons who are interested in the
fields of Sports Administration studies.
B. To foster and maintain high standards of professional qualifications
and ethics.
C. To encourage and promote a superior program of professional experiences
for members of the Sports Administration Club and the Sports Administration
and Management curriculum.
D. To promote and practice desirable public relations concerning the activities
and interests of the Sports Administration Club.
E. To encourage study and research on matters of professional interest
through Sports Administration Club functions.
F. To maintain communications between professional practitioners and study
of Sports Administration for the stimulation of thought, exchange of ideas,
and mutual assistance.
G. To encourage prospective students to pursue the study of leisure services.
Article
III -- Membership
Section
I.
Membership in the Sports Administration Club shall consist of two membership
classifications:
A. Active Membership
B. Honorary Membership
Section
II.
Active membership in the Sports Administration Club shall be available
to any and all persons currently enrolled as a student at University of
Nebraska at Kearney and not on academic or disciplinary probation.
Section III.
Honorary membership in the Sports Administration Club shall occur under
the recommendation of Active members and consideration of the club membership.
Article
IV -- Officers
Section I.
The administration of the Sports Administration Club shall be by an executive
board. This executive board shall consist of the following officers:
A. President
B. Vice President
C. Secretary
D. Treasurer
Section
II.
Qualifications for officers of the executive board shall be as follows:
A. President
1. Must be an active member of the Sports Administration Club.
2. Must be of Junior or Senior status during the term to which he/she
will be elected.
3. Must hold no executive office in any other student organization at
University of Nebraska at Kearney.
B.
Vice President
1. Must be an Active member in the Sports Administration Club.
2. Must hold no executive office in any other student organization at
University of Nebraska at Kearney.
C.
Secretary
1. Must be an Active member in the Sports Administration Club.
2. Must hold no executive office in any other student organization at
University of Nebraska at Kearney.
D.
Treasurer
1. Must be an Active member in the Sports Administration Club.
2. Must hold no executive office in any other student organization at
University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Section
III.
Duties for officers of the executive board shall be as follows:
A. President
1. The President shall act as executive officer of the Sports Administration
Club and shall have authority to preside over all business meetings, executive
board meetings, and appoint chairpersons for special committees as the
need arises.
2. The officer shall appoint all standing committee chairpersons subject
to a vote of approval by a simple majority of the club membership, except
the Program Committee chair which shall not be an appointed position.
3. The officer shall serve as an ex-official member of all committees.
B.
Vice President
1. The Vice President shall perform all functions of the chair in the
absence of the President.
2. The officer shall serve as chairperson of the Program Committee.
C.
Secretary
1. The Secretary shall keep accurate records of all Sports Administration
Club meetings and the executive board meetings.
2. The officer shall keep accurate and current records of all membership
classification.
3. The officer shall distribute membership certification to all Active
members not delinquent in their annual due payment, and to all Honorary
members.
D.
Treasurer
1. The Treasurer shall keep an accurate account of the income and expenses
of the Sports Administration Club.
2. The officer shall collect the annual dues form club membership and
present the Secretary with a list of all members delinquent in the payments.
Article
IV -Method of election:
1. Nominations will be taken at a meeting by the members of the club.
All individuals being nominated must meet the criteria to hold the office
they are being nominated
2. A majority of all votes cast shall be necessary to constitute election
to an executive office.
Section I.
Removal of an officer: An officer will be removed from his/her position
by one of the following:
1.
Non-attendance to four consecutive meetings without a valid reason.
2. Not being enrolled in school due to academic or disciplinary reasons.
3. A ¾ vote of the general membership.
Article V - Advisor
Section I.
The advisor for the Sports Administration Club will be the Sports Administration
Curriculum Coordinator.
Article
VI - Elections
Section I.
All officers shall be elected at the first meeting in April of every year.
The new officers will take office in the fall of the following year.
Section II.
All students actively involved in the Sports Administration club and meeting
all the criteria stated in the by-laws will be eligible for nomination.
Section III.
Nominations for officers: All interested member can turn in their names
or nominate another member to the faculty advisor one week prior to the
election to be placed on the ballot. The faculty advisor will ensure the
individual nominated meets the criteria.
Article
VII - Meetings & Quorum
Section I.
A meeting shall be held twice monthly during the complete months of the
academic year.
Section II.
A fraction of one fourth of the total Sports Administration Club Active
membership shall constitute a quorum.
Article
VIII -- Finances
Section I.
Collection of funds shall be the responsibility of the executive office
of Treasurer.
1. Funds will be collected through membership fees and fundraisers.
Section II.
Disbursement of funds shall be the responsibility of the executive officers
of Treasurer and President, and the faculty advisor.
Article IX - Executive Board
Section I.
The President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer will make up the
Executive Board.
Section II.
The Executive Boards duty will be
1.
Conduct all meetings.
2. Bring issues for discussion on the agenda
3. Represent the organization at other organizations where representation
is necessary.
Article X - Committees
Section 1.
The President will create any committees as necessary to conduct club
business.
Article
XI - Parliamentary Authority
Section 1.
The Sports Administration Club will use as a reference to guide meetings
Robert's Rules of Order, Revised.
Article
XII -- Amendments
Section I.
Procedures for accepting debate on proposed amendments shall be as follows:
A. Any proposed amendment shall be presented to the club membership in
a written form.
B. Debate for the proposed amendment shall be allowed by a simple majority
vote of the club membership.
Section
II.
Procedures for amending the constitution must be as follows:
A. Any proposed amendment to the constitution must be passed by a 2/3-majority
vote of the club membership.
B. Once passed the amendment shall be effected immediately upon approval
of the Student Senate.
Article
X -- Ratification
Section
I.
The ratification of this constitution shall be by a 2/3-majority vote
of the Sports Administration Club membership.
Section
II.
The Sports Administration Club constitution shall be effected immediately
upon its ratification by the club membership and the subsequent approval
of the Student Senate.
