Constitution:
Article I Name
The name of this organization shall be Collegiate Veterans Organization
of UNK
Article II Statement of Purpose
The object of this organization
is to support all students who have served or are currently serving
in the military and to raise awareness of veteran related
issues.
Article III Membership
Section 1
Membership in this organization is open to any student
regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, religion, creed,
sexual orientation,
or physical disability, who is currently enrolled at the University
of Nebraska at Kearney and who has an interest in the goals and objectives
of this organization.
Section 2
Full members are those veterans who are serving or have served
in the U. S. military.
Section 3
Associate members are those who have an interest in veterans’ affairs
and are supportive of this organization and its goals and objectives.
Article IV Officers
Section 1
The officers of this organization shall be the President,
the Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Section 2
Must be a Full Member and able to fill office for entire
year.
Section 3
The President shall call the meetings to order, set the schedule and
agenda.
The Vice–President shall assist the President in his
duties and act as President when the President is absent.
The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes of all meetings and for
official correspondence.
The Treasurer is responsible for the management and allotments of all funds.
Section 4
Any officer shall be removed from office by a 3⁄4 vote
of the active membership.
Section 5
A majority of all votes cast shall be necessary to constitute
an election.
Section 6
All vacancies shall be filled by a special election held at the
next regularly scheduled meeting.
Article V Advisor
The Advisor shall be a member of the Faculty, Staff or Administration
of UNK.Article VI Elections
Section1
Officers shall be elected at the last regularly scheduled
meeting of the Spring Semester and shall serve for the following
academic year.
Section2
Members running for office will state the position they
are running for by voice.
Article VII Meeting and Quorum
Section 1
Meetings will be held monthly during the academic year.
Section 2
The President or any 5 members may call special meetings of this
organization.
Section 3
A quorums shall consist of 3⁄4 of the elected
officials and 51% of active membership.
Article VIII Finances
Section 1
Funds will be obtained through fundraising efforts and/or donations.
Section 2
Any expenditure over $50 shall be approved by a majority vote
of the active membership. The Treasurer has approval for amounts up $50.
Section 3
All expenditures must be approved by the Advisor.
Article IX Amendments
Section 1
This Constitution may be amended at a regularly scheduled meeting
by a 2/3 vote of all active members. The proposed amendments shall be submitted
in writing to all members of the organization at least seven days before
being
voted on.
Section 2
Amendments to this constitution shall become effective upon approval
of the organization and by the Selection Committee of the Student Senate
and the full Student Senate.
Article X Ratification
This constitution shall become effective upon 2/3 vote of active members. |
