Flight Period(s): It flies all or most of the year in the southernmost portions of the United States. The Nebraska record is from 26 October. |
Range: This species is a resident from Central America north into southern portions of Texas, New Mexico and Arixona. It strays (rarely) into Kansas. There is one southern Nebraska record. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Crotons, of which none of those listed occurs in Nebraska. |
Overwinter: As adults in its home range. It cannot survive winters in Nebraska. |
Commentary/Habitat: On 26 October 1996 Doug Long captured a female in Holbrook ( Furnas County) from a watermelon rind left in his backyard to attract butterflies. |
