Range: Resident in southern Florida and Mexico, straying north as far as Nebraska. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Figs (Ficus species), none of which occur in Nebraska |
Overwinter: Cannot survive winters in our area |
Commentary/Habitat: This butterfly inhabits woodlands in its home range. The only Nebraska specimen was taken by Irwin Froemel in Platte County. |
Similar Species: Superficially resembles swallowtails, none of which have the coloration of this species. |
