Mestra amymone (Menetries, 1857)
Status: Very rare stray.
Flight Period(s): Flies year round in Mexico, and is most numerous in early summer in Texas.
Range: Resident in Mexico and southern Texas, occasionally straying north as far as Nebraska.
Larval Hostplant(s): Larvae feed on noseburn (Tragia neptifolia) which does not occur north of Texas. Other Tragia species occur as far north as Kansas.
Overwinter: This species does not survive winters in this area.
Commentary/Habitat: Said to prefer open areas.
