Flight Period(s): Probably double brooded in Kansas (Ely, 1986) . |
Range: B. exilis resides in an area from southern California east to southern Texas. From there they stray north as far as Nebraska and Idaho. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Various Chenopodiacea of which the following occur in Nebraska: Lamb’s-quarters (Chenapodium album), and Shadscale, Spearscale and Redscale (Atriplex canescens, A. patula, and A. rosea) |
Overwinter: This species does not overwinter in Nebraska. |
Commentary/Habitat: While, as a stray, this species may occur in a variety of habitats, several of the more recent records are from alkali and saline marshes and weedy areas where their hostplants occur. It likely occurs more frequently than records indicate, but being diminutive in nature, is probably often overlooked. |
