Flight Period(s): Plebejus acmon is at least double brooded in the state, having been found from 11 May – 31 October. Multiple records have been reported in late May, late June and late August. |
Range: The Acmon Blue is found in the western half of the United States, extending into southern Canada and western Mexico. In Nebraska it has been recorded from the western half of the state. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Larval hostplants occurring in Nebraska include various Legumes - Lupines (Lupinus species), Lotus purshianus and White Sweet Clover (Melilotus alba) as well as several Buckwheats (Eriogonum effusum and E. flavum) |
Overwinter: Reported to overwinter as a young caterpillar |
Commentary/Habitat: In Nebraska the Acmon Blue is most often found associated with short, mixed-grass and sandhills prairies. It is rarely common and is most often represented by an individual or two. This species is now referred to by some taxonomists as Icaricialupini, but almost all recent literature will have it listed as acmon. |
