Flight Period(s): There is one early to mid summer flight. In Nebraska it has been reported from 24 May – 29 July, with the greatest numbers normally being found in mid-late June. |
Range: Boisduval’s Blue occupies most of the western United States, extending east into western portions of the Dakotas and Nebraska. In Nebraska it has been found in the northern and western counties of the panhandle. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Larvae have been confirmed as feeding on various Lupines, of which the Silvery Lupine (Lupinus parviflora) is found in Nebraska. |
Overwinter: As a caterpillar |
Commentary/Habitat: This is usually the most common blue found in the Pine Ridge in June and early July where it flies with or overlaps flights of Shasta, Greenish, Silvery and Arrowhead Blues. Adults are most abundant in the upper reaches of canyons but can be found in valley bottoms as well. |
