Flight Period(s): Double brooded in most of its established range (south of Nebraska). Records from Nebraska range from 16 June – 25 August. |
Range: The Hoary Edge is found from eastern Texas north to Wisconsin and east to the Atlantic coast. It is recorded from extreme southeastern Nebraska. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Herbaceous legumes, especially Illinois tickclover (Desmodium illinoensis) and to a lesser extent False Indigo and Lespedezas (Baptisiae and Lespedeza species). |
Overwinter: A. lyciades passes the winter as a pupa |
Commentary/Habitat: Three specimens have been found in the state, all in 1990, by Steve Spomer in Richardson and Nemaha counties. |
Similar Species: Easily differentiated from the Silver-spotted Skipper |
