Range: Inhabits the southern half of Canada and the eastern half of the United States. It occurs statewide in Nebraska. |

Overwinter: As a caterpillar |
Commentary/Habitat: This species frequents open areas including road ditches, trails and dry river channels where they frequently perch on bare ground. While they are most common during their first flight in the spring they are rarely numerous. Adults take nectar from a variety of flowers and are also reported to visit mud. |
