Range: Found in most of the United States and southern Canada with the exception of more arid portions of the west. It occurs statewide in Nebraska. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Legumes including false indigo (Amorpha fruticosa), honey locust (Gleditsia triacanthos), black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) and wild sennae (Cassia marilandica) |
Overwinter: As pupae |
Commentary/Habitat: Adults utilize a wide variety of habitats ranging from open woodlands to open prairies and have been observed utilizing a variety of nectar sources including chokecherry, yellow sweet clover, alfalfa, raspberry, thistles, gayfeather and Joe Pye weed. |
