Flight Period(s): Double to triple brooded. Nebraska records fall into a 22 May – 12 August time frame with numbers being greatest in late May and early June. |
Range: This species is found from southern Alberta and Saskatchewan south to central Mexico. In Nebraska it has been found in the panhandle. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Legumes including Astragalus and Lupinus species |
Overwinter: As a fully developed caterpillar |
Commentary/Habitat: The Afranius Duskywing is found on open hillsides and valleys in pine forest environments and rocky prairie slopes and streamsides. It has been recorded from the Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area ( Scotts Bluff County) and Gilbert-Baker State Wildlife Management Area ( Sioux County). |
