Flight Period(s): One early summer flight. It has beeen found in Nebraska from 17 May – 7 July. |
Range: The Hobomok Skipper inhabits a large area from central Saskatchewan to the East Coast and south to the Carolinas and Missouri. It occurs statewide in Nebraska. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Switchgrass and relatives (Panicum species) and Bluegrasses (Poa species) |
Overwinter: As a caterpillar |
Commentary/Habitat: This species can be found in prairies, riparian areas and parks. When they are located they are generally not common, usually numbering a half dozen or less. Adults have been observed nectaring on verbena and puccoon. |
