Anteos maerula (Fabricius, 1775)
Status: Very rare stray.
Flight Period(s): Flies though out the year in Mexico.
Range: Found as a resident from Peru to Mexico. The Nebraska record is the northern most as a stray.
Larval Hostplant(s): Tree legumes including Cassia emarginata which does not occur in the state. Herbaceous Cassia fasciculata and C. marilandica do occur in Nebraska.
Overwinter: This species does not overwinter in the United States.
Commentary/Habitat: The lone record for the state was a female captured by R. A. Leussler in Omaha on 20 September 1921.
