Appias drusilla (Cramer, 1777)
Status: Rare stray.
Flight Period(s): The Florida White flies thoughout the year in numerous broods where it is well established in its home range. It is reported in Nebraska from 17 May – 19 August.
Range: This species is a resident from Brazil north into Mexico and southern Florida. From there it occasionally strays as far as north as New York and Nebraska.
Larval Hostplant(s): Tree legumes (Cassia emarginata) are cited by Scott. Herbaceous cassias (C. fasciculata and C. marylandica) are found in Nebraska.
Overwinter: This species does not overwinter in Nebraska.
Commentary/Habitat: There are two Nebraska records, the first from Omaha on 19 August 1909 (Leussler), and the second from Nemaha County on 17 May 1985 by Dr David Keith of UNL on an entomology field trip.
