Status: Uncommon to locally common resident. |
Flight Period(s): There is one spring flight commonly not extending into June. Nebraska records range from 10 April – 22 June. |
Range: Found in central North America from southern Alberta east to the Great Lakes area south to eastern Texas. It is found statewide in Nebraska. |
Larval Hostplant(s): Various crucifers of the genus Arabis as well as Sisymbrium officinale and Descurainia pinnata, the latter of which is the most widely distributed. |
Overwinter: The Olympia Marble overwinters as a pupae. |
Commentary/Habitat: Males patrol hilltops in the loess hills and Pine Ridge. Elsewhere they can be found in disturbed areas, floodplains, prairies, and road ditches. |
Similar Species: May resemble the cabbage, checkered and western whites while in flight, but is usually only half to 2/3 their size. The reduced UHW maculation separates it from the large marble. |
