Eurema daira (Godart, 1819)
Status: A rare stray, there is but a single records of this species in the state.
Flight Period(s): Where it is a resident it flies all year.
Range: The Barred Yellow is a resident from Argentina to Mexico and extreme southern portions of Florida and Texas. It occasionally strays north as far as South Dakota.
Larval Hostplant(s): Various legumes of which the following genera occur in Nebraska: Cassia, Strophostyles and Glycyrrhiza.
Overwinter: This species does not overwinter in Nebraska.
Commentary/Habitat: Eurema daira occupies open areas and forest edges in its home range. The Nebraska specimen was found between 1972 and 1986, but specific details are unclear.
Similar Species: Dainty Sulphur (Nathalis iole) is smaller, and the Little Yellow (Eurema lisa) lacks the black bar at the base of the dorsal forewing.
