Here are some of our favorite GIS and Biology pages:

Geographical Information Systems (GIS)

ArcView GIS - the ESRI site for the software.

EPA BASINS Application and Data - this is a huge ArcView plug-in containing road, soil, hydrography, population, EPA permitting, toxicological, and meteorological data for any state in the union!  Best of all its free.  Did I mention it contains both point and non-point source models?

ESRI - The GIS Software Leader, Because Geography Matters

Geogeographynetwork.com - another introduction/education site for GIS, free data at world and spatial scales too!

GIS.COM - A large and good introduction to GIS, a friendly site, includes educational materials.

Nationalatlas.gov - an online library for the USGS and other federal agencies.  Here you can download everything from demographic data to West Nile Virus cases (more places than you think!) and where airports and abandoned coal mines are.  Also, there is lots of biological data - butterflies, moths, animal mortality data for a number of species!

U.S. Geological Survey - there is so much information here it is silly, everything from TIGER files to aerial photography.

Nebraska Sites

CALMIT - the unit of Univ. of Nebraska, Lincoln specializing in spatial technologies, a great deal of information and links here!

GIS/LIS Association - a group of people using GIS or CAD in their work!
