Another focus in the HPL is service to the University, the community and the state. We offer several service programs that include our Adult Fitness Program, an opportunity for members of the UNK community (students, staff and faculty) to have their fitness and body composition assessed, receive a personal exercise prescription and exercise in the privacy of the HPL exercise room. This program is traditionally designed for individuals that are beginning an exercise program and need personal training. Under the supervision of HPL faculty, students conduct all of the fitness assessments, design the exercise prescriptions and are available for personal training during open hours. This provides individuals with one-on-one attention while providing students with hands-on experiences. The Adult Fitness Program also holds exercise classes throughout the academic year ranging from kick-boxing to Pilates to stretch and relaxation classes. These exercise classes are open to the UNK community and heavily advertised to students. Other service programs include laboratory tours to area high schools, body composition testing for state high school wrestling teams and personalized fitness assessments. |
