Human Performance Lab tours are offered to Nebraska High Schools and provide upcoming college students an opportunity to see the research and testing that is done in the lab. A tour includes a demonstration of hydrostatic weighing to assess body composition, students are shown the private exercise room used by Adult Fitness Program members, the cadaver lab used in classes such as Gross Anatomy, our biochemistry lab used for research, and a description of how a maximal graded exercise test is given, as well as, how to use an ECG machine. Students are encouraged to ask questions and are able to participate in such things as bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) scale, used to indicate percentage of body fat. We at the UNK Human Performance Lab enjoy the opportunity to further student's interest in the field of exercise science. Participation in lab tours often reaffirm one's career choice or may help students see new career opportunities.
