Nicrophorus hybridus Hatch & Angell |
Description: Nicrophorus hybridus is a small burying beetle (13.8 to 20.5 mm) with prominent orange maculations. The sternum is covered in dense yellow setae except for the areas immediately behind the basal segments of the middle legs. The antennae have black basal segments while the remaining segments are orange. |

Range: Although this is a wide-ranging species, N. hybridus is restricted to the northern portions of Nebraska.
Primarily a western species, occurring from the southern parts of western Canada to Arizona and New Mexico. There are only two Nebraska records (three specimens).

Notes: It is probably diurnally active, although little is known of the biology of this species.
